43. Listen to Heart – Energy Can Neither Be Created Nor Destroyed ….

It reminds me of my student days when I was taught and made to understand and practice the knowledge. Once I completed my std. X, I opted for science and which finally showed me the path of Engineering.

I was taught during my classes and lectures of Physics that energy is a property of objects. Energy is transferable via any media and interactions. Energy can be converted to different forms. I still remember that we were taught that Energy can neither be created nor destroyed but and can be transferred. There are many forms of energy which can be convertible to other form of energy. Due to change of form it causes a proportional change in mass in objects that possess it. The various forms of energy are;
·        Kinetic Energy: It is in moving object
·        Radiant Energy: It is carried by light and electromagnetic radiation
·        Potential Energy: It is stored by virtue of position of an object in the field
·        Thermal Energy: It comprises of microscopic kinetic and potential energies of the disordered motions of the particles making up matter.

The law of conservation of energy states that total energy of a system can only change, if energy is transferred into or out of the system. Any energy in a single form can be transformed to another form. It means that it not possible i.e. it is impossible to create or destroy energy.

Energy may be transformed between different forms at various efficiencies. Energy transformations in the universe over time are characterized by various kinds of potential energy that has been available. Matter may be converted to energy (and vice versa), but mass cannot ever be destroyed; rather, mass/energy equivalence remains a constant for both the matter and the energy, during any process when they are converted into each other. According to conservation of energy, energy can neither be created (produced) nor destroyed by itself. It can only be transformed. The total inflow of energy into a system must equal the total outflow of energy from the system, plus the change in the energy contained within the system.

In one of the article i.e. “Listen to Heart – Matter and Spirit matters in Life ….” We have tried to understand the matter and the spirit. Matter relates to human body i.e. a medium and Spirit denotes the Atman, the soul. We have also discussed that everything is going through a change every time at every moment in the system and agreed that change is the only constant in life in “Listen to Heart – Change is the only Constant….”

We have learnt that Energy is present everywhere and similarly the Spirit is also present everywhere. Both i.e. Energy and Spirit (i.e. Atman) are omnipresent. Can we say that spirit is also a form of energy? If Atman is present everywhere then how can Atman move from one body to another? This is a question which was giving rise to many other questions. I was trying to discuss and read and surf to find an answer to it. We belief all when a human being dies the Atman leaves the body which is dead and enters into another body which is born i.e. leaves the old body and enter into the new body. I came to understand that it is mind and intellect and not the Atman which takes moves to another body. This transfer of mind and intellect from one physical body to another body is termed as death for the older body and birth for the new body. Can I say that Mind and intellect are another form of energy as is being transferred?

When the mind and intellect enters a body the life starts and the soul is said to be lively whereas the Soul is always lively. The Atman and Spirit is beyond the material of body, mind and intellect. The material passes through different stages of life i.e. childhood, youth and old age; it is in the similar way mind and intellect passes to another body at the time of death. We understand that neither the embodied mind and intellect nor the Atman is destroyed at the time of death.

In this materialistic world we live our life with desires. We have ‘Vasanas’ which we would like to fulfill. In order to fulfill our desires (Vasanas) we become blind. We have seen that blindness is not a medical disease rather blindness is from within, in the article ‘Listen to Heart - Blindness not a medical disease ……’ Gita represent Dhritrashtra a blind man not for blindness due to lack of his vision of his eyes but due to blindness from within due to his lack of vision from within i.e. mind, intellect and heart which had impure his soul. The physical body is not in a position to fulfill the vasanas, then the mind and intellect finds another body which can fulfill the Vasanas. This way the old body is termed as dead and the new body is termed as birth. This cycle of birth and death due to Vasanas goes on and on in the form of birth and death until the Vasanas are fulfilled and exhausted. Once all the Vasanas are fulfilled then the mind and intellect get merged with Atman. We have learnt that we need to be satisfied and it can be only if we are able to control the desires and vasanas. When the merger of mind and intellect happens with Atman then we become one with the supreme Self. We can say that Atman gets one with Parmatama. It is the process of Self Realization. Krishna tells Arjuna not to be grieved at the change of life. Any man who has perfect knowledge of the constitution of the individual soul, the Supersoul, and nature—both material and spiritual—is called a dhira, or a most sober man. The Bhagavad-gita refers to those who have had enough, those who have come to their spiritual senses as dhira, wise persons. Srila Prabhupada fittingly renders dhira as sober persons, for they have broken free from the intoxication of bodily misidentification. We should realize that - That’s not me. That is the soul with mind and intellect. The person who wants to act in non-spiritual immoral ways is not me. The real me is a higher, better person waiting to resurface as soon as I become sober (wise and dhira). Such a man is never deluded by the change of bodies. So Arjuna should not lament rather, he should rejoice for their changing bodies from old to new ones, thereby rejuvenating their energy. We are not our material bodies, but are souls meant for an eternal life of love with Krishna.
Krishna tells Arjuna, “Just as the embodied (passes through) childhood, youth and old age in this body, so does it pass into another body; there the wise one is not grieved and not bewildered by such a change.”

42. Listen to Heart – Change is the only Constant….

I was quiet young to understand things in depth which I still feel that I am ignorant to understand deep meaning words and sentences and phrases. One day someone had told me, “Change is the only constant”. I still remember that I had asked him to repeat once again what he had said. He repeated, “Change is the only constant”. I just replied wahooo…. What a phrase!!! Great one….. Good one…. He replied to me, “It is not a phrase”. “What is it then?” I asked. He said, “gentleman it is a thought and you need to give a thought on this thought as you would face several situations in life on this thought that change is the only constant because constant is also not constant. Constant also keeps on changing”. Nothing stays. Nothing is permanent, not even feelings, people, and circumstances. They all change. That’s not being negative, that’s being realistic.

Change is one of the only things that are always present in our work. On other hand Change is hard. Change isn’t easy. Change can cause pain. Some people welcome change but don’t fully take stock of the potential trouble spots. For others change is difficult and they seemingly fight against it every chance they get. And many people fall in the middle of those two extremes. It is not so easy to accept changes. You ask someone or for that matter someone advice you to make certain changes in your habits, nature, way of working, lifestyle, behavior, etc. the general tendency of all of us is to react rather we should act at least to give a thought on the advice. When we say that it is not easy to change then you must be thinking that I am contradicting my own statement and thought. I would like to say that I fully agree that Change is the only constant, so changes keeps on taking place in our life weather we accept it or not; it may happen that changes have taken place but we have not noticed it. It is our tendency not to accept anything suggested by others. In this scenario the change becomes painful. I would like to say, “Accept change. Change yourself to suit the change else change will change you to accept the change because change will take place in its own way and at its own time as change is the only constant.”

We were taught in the school that flowing water is always clean. One can drink water from a river as water is continuously flowing but never drink water from  a pond as the water is not flowing rather it is stagnate. In any stagnant water we find germs and algae. Everything flows, nothing stands still. Nothing endures but change.

Many a times we are suggested by our elders and well-wishers to improve our habits, nature, and behavior. They suggest us certain good habits and practices and ask us to be patient and practice those rigorously as the result will take time. Good character is not formed in a week or a month. It is created little by little, day by day. Protracted and patient effort is needed to develop good character. Any change takes time. We can say that change has a direct relation with time. Change is directly proportional to time.

Change is constant. This is a well-known philosophical and scientific theory, discussed over many centuries by many different types of scientists and philosophers. Darwin was just one of them, and he related it to evolutionary biology and genetics. It is such a conundrum.  It makes me think of clocks and time because when you look at a clock, the time changes but the face of it is always constant.

Our Society is in a changing state always. Changes in attitudes, morals, technology, and economy affect our personal and professional lives. Companies don’t exist in a static world but is in a dynamic situation.  They have constant interaction with external forces such as competitors, customers, governments, stockholders, suppliers, society, and unions. Some change is directed from within and other times is it forced upon us by outside sources. Change can be stressful. This stress can manifest physically and mentally. Change that is dictated and not managed dooms most projects to ultimate failure. We need to manage the change smoothly.

·        Communication:  We must have open lines of communication. Part of communication involves in having a clear vision of past, present, and future. We have to know where we are before we can see where we are going.
·        Accepting: Accepting the fact that change is going to happen whether we like it or not.  A key to overcoming resistance to change is, again, communication, as well as respect and understanding.
·        Involvement: We need to involve all the concerned in making the change to happen to the greatest extent possible.

To paraphrase an old saying: The only constant in life is change. Life changes every day for every person in some way. We expect the seasons to change, children to grow taller, birthdays to keep piling on, strawberries in June and the crisp smell of fall in October … we expect to grow older … to watch children marry, to retire from our jobs and play with our grandchildren.  We even recognize that sickness and death are expected events in our lives.

Change is constant, even big change. But it is all a part of life and we can all learn and grow from it. And we can all help each other through. If a young child experiences an event that is beyond his or her skill level, he or she needs an adult to help learn new coping strategies or adapt a current skill. Being aware of the developmental tasks the child or youth is learning will help the adult identify the next steps to take. Adults can help by loving the child, talking with the child, showing the child new ways of dealing with the change, and accepting the child’s reactions to the event.

It is not difficult to forget that life will always be changing – we face something new every moment of the day! We need to embrace the changes that life has in store for us – they will make things flow more smoothly and we can bounce back from the major changes hopefully a little easier. We just have to always keep in mind that life truly is what we make of it…if we are always living in negativity then life will always seem like doom and gloom…

Change is a necessary evil. Change will occur whether we want it to or not.  Whether forced upon us from outside sources, or generated from within to meet the changing needs of society, change is going to happen.  How we manage this change is going to dictate our happiness level in the end. We all need to work together to make required or mandated changes as smooth and easy as possible.

Krishna said Arjuna that never indeed was I not, nor you, nor these rulers of men; and also none of us will cease to be hereafter.

A baby is born in the family. A name is given to the baby. His grandfather calls him as Madhav. His grandmother calls him as Babu. In school he is called by some of his friend as Kumar as his name is Madhav Kumar. He comes into the professional world he gets a tag of GET. He moves up the ladder and with experience he is rewarded with promotions and keeps on adding tags one by one. In the process he forgets his original identity. He forgets his real self and remembers himself as reel self. Nevertheless, one’s real self remains constant and changeless which a soul and rest all changes. It continues eternally.

The self remains the same throughout. The self is unchanged even after death. The same self-exist in all beings eternally. The cycle of birth and death continues and in the process one goes through changes.

Even Lord Vishnu in his incarnation (Avtar) changed. He came as ‘Ram’ on this earth to free people from the sins of Ravana and then he came as ‘Krishna’ to free people from the sins of Kansa and Kauravas.

Hari Bol....

40. Listen to Heart – Tags are Virtual……

I remember I had gone to see a movie. It was an old love triangle movie but the plot was something different. The movie was of Rajesh Khannaji our lovable ‘Kaka’ and the first super hero of the Indian Cinema who is no more with us physically but I am sure he is around us. I would once again like to pray to the All Mighty that ‘May his soul rest in peace’. The movie is so greatly made that I would like to congratulate the entire team for giving us such a beautiful movie. The movie was with all great cast. I request you to see the movie if you have not watched.

The movie was Kudrat which it means Nature in a simple language. The love triangle story was of Rajesh Khannaji, Vinod Khannaji and Hema Maliniji. It was directed by Chetan Anandji. The negative role was played by another great actor Raj Kumarji (who is also not with us but is always with us. ‘May the soul rest in peace’). The film had won ‘Filmfare’ award for the best story in 1981. The movie was about reincarnation.

The story of Kudrat is based in the city of Shimla where two lovers are born again. Mohan Kapur (Rajesh Khannaji) and Chandramukhi (Hema Maliniji) were separated in their earlier lives by the evil desires of Raaj Kumar. Chandramukhi visits Shimla with her parents for the first time. On her way she starts feeling some emotional attachment with this place. At Shimla they meet Dr. Naresh Gupta (Vinod Khannaji) and both the parents agrees for the marriage. Mohan is a lawyer. He visits Shimla to meet his patron Janak Singh (Raaj Kumarji) as it Mohan was all due to Janak Singh courtesy and generosity. Mohan gets ready to marry Janak’s sister Karuna as gratitude he wanted to show to Janak.

Once, Chandramukhi meets Mohan. She starts getting a feeling of some connections with him. Mohan meets Saraswati Devi who is an elderly singer. As Saraswati Devi sees Mohan she is shocked to see him but kept quiet. She is brother of Madhav who is supposed to be Mohan in this life. Chandramukhi acts strangely whenever she meets Mohan. She has the nightmares of a man named Madhav, who is Mohan's doppelganger, plummeting to death from a cliff. Naresh also smells something and agrees to help Mohan. In the previous life Mohan (Madhav) and Chandramukhi (Paro) loved each other. Paro was raped and murdered by a zamindar’s son. Madhav commits suicide after listening about Paro’s rape and murder. Paro had cursed him that just as he took away something precious to her, mother nature will take something important from him too. Meanwhile, Mohan seems to be losing the case, until he finds the mansion where Paro was purportedly murdered. He also traces Billi Ram, a senile old mason, who may hold a clue to Paro's disappearance. Billi Ram remembers that Janak had called him that day to patch up a wall in the mansion. Mohan comes to the mansion with police, who tear the wall down. A skeleton tumbles out in front of Karuna. Shocked by this revelation, Karuna goes to her home and sets it on fire. She sits inside, playing a piano and succumbs to the fire. After learning of his daughter's death and the new discovery, Janak realizes that Paro's curse has done its work. Later, Janak pleads guilty for his crime in the court and is sentenced accordingly. As he is escorted out, he and Chandramukhi see each other for a last time. After Chandramukhi and Mohan get united, Naresh heads to America.

There were two souls tagged as Madhav and Paro who were in love. The same two souls were there, which were tagged as Mohan and Chandramukhi who were in love. So the souls were there earlier as well as now and it would remain in future also only the Tags changes. The tags which we all carry are replaceable tags. The non - original are with different tags which keeps on changing but the original tag remains the same. The soul remains as original but the name, designation, cast, religion, country, etc. keeps on changing which is non – original. The names are the reel life but the soul is the real life. Tags are virtual…

Krishna says to Arjuna, “Never was there a time when I did not exist, nor you, nor all these kings; nor in the future shall any of us cease to be.”

We all know that Krishna is the maintainer of all living entities in all situations of action and its reactions of the work (Karma). He resides in everyone’s heart which can be felt by a saintly person from within. We need to work by listening to heart as it is voice of the Krishna. Krishna says that He Himself, Arjuna and all the kings who have assembled on the battlefield are eternally individual beings and Krishna is eternally the maintainer of the individual living entities both in their conditioned and in their liberated situations. Krishna is the supreme individual person and Arjuna is the Krishna’s eternal associate and all the kings assembled in the battlefield are individual eternal persons. It is not that they did not exist as individuals in the past, and it is not that they will not remain eternal persons. They existed in the past, and their individuality will continue in the future. Therefore, there is no cause for lamentation for anyone. Krishna affirms His individuality in the past and confirms His individuality in the future also. Krishna has maintained spiritual individuality all along and will do so also all along.

41. Listen to Heart – Matter and Spirit matters in Life ….

As human beings we forget the purpose of life. We do not try to understand our life but try to understand the style of the life. This changes the direction of the life. Instead of understanding the life of life we understand the life style of life. There are only two important subjects discussed in The Srimad Bhagavad Gita that we truly need to read, learn, understand and realize; before one can enjoy Peace and Happiness. We need to understand the two of the two; i.e.

·        Matter and Spirit (human body and Atman)
·        Self and The Supreme SELF or Supreme Paramatman.

Krishna tells Arjuna that 'Jnana' is to know the difference about Matter from Spirit (or Human body and the Atman within), and who controls whom. Krishna also mentions that 'Vijnana' then, is to understand and realize the relationship of our Own Self or Atman and The Supreme Self or Supreme Paramatman - which is the goal of human life. In the Material Nature (Maya) around us, there are five elements controlled by Krishna (Supreme Paramatman) who is unseen (to the Ignorant). Similarly, our own human body made up of the same five elements also; the Self, which is a part and parcel of that same Supreme Self is also Unseen as the Atman in us. Once we know the above two differences then we must act. But the choice is always ours. Knowing, reading, learning, understanding and realizing the above is where Peace comes from, since Peace and Happiness reside in in our heart where Krishna resides it ultimately resides in Krishna. So everyone and everything resides in Krishna and Krishna resides in everyone and everything. Krishna is source of all.
The spirit is supreme which is called Atman. Matter is the body-mind-intellect. Body-mind-intellect when comes in contact with Atman a human being is formed and gains sentiency. Atman gives power and force and it results in life of human being. Atman being core of human being exists eternally. Atman existed in past, exists in present and will exsit in future. We have learnt that it will not die by any means. The body will get over but the atman will continue by taking a new form. This is confirmed by Krishna in Bhagwat Gita. The self i.e. the spirit will remain at all stages of life and will continue to be there after the life also. The self is unchanged even after the death of the human being as only the body changes and not the atman which we have seen in the article, ‘Listen to Heart – Tags are Virtual……’ We can say by learning from Krishna that birth and death have no particular significance for the learned wise.
