41. Listen to Heart – Matter and Spirit matters in Life ….

As human beings we forget the purpose of life. We do not try to understand our life but try to understand the style of the life. This changes the direction of the life. Instead of understanding the life of life we understand the life style of life. There are only two important subjects discussed in The Srimad Bhagavad Gita that we truly need to read, learn, understand and realize; before one can enjoy Peace and Happiness. We need to understand the two of the two; i.e.

·        Matter and Spirit (human body and Atman)
·        Self and The Supreme SELF or Supreme Paramatman.

Krishna tells Arjuna that 'Jnana' is to know the difference about Matter from Spirit (or Human body and the Atman within), and who controls whom. Krishna also mentions that 'Vijnana' then, is to understand and realize the relationship of our Own Self or Atman and The Supreme Self or Supreme Paramatman - which is the goal of human life. In the Material Nature (Maya) around us, there are five elements controlled by Krishna (Supreme Paramatman) who is unseen (to the Ignorant). Similarly, our own human body made up of the same five elements also; the Self, which is a part and parcel of that same Supreme Self is also Unseen as the Atman in us. Once we know the above two differences then we must act. But the choice is always ours. Knowing, reading, learning, understanding and realizing the above is where Peace comes from, since Peace and Happiness reside in in our heart where Krishna resides it ultimately resides in Krishna. So everyone and everything resides in Krishna and Krishna resides in everyone and everything. Krishna is source of all.
The spirit is supreme which is called Atman. Matter is the body-mind-intellect. Body-mind-intellect when comes in contact with Atman a human being is formed and gains sentiency. Atman gives power and force and it results in life of human being. Atman being core of human being exists eternally. Atman existed in past, exists in present and will exsit in future. We have learnt that it will not die by any means. The body will get over but the atman will continue by taking a new form. This is confirmed by Krishna in Bhagwat Gita. The self i.e. the spirit will remain at all stages of life and will continue to be there after the life also. The self is unchanged even after the death of the human being as only the body changes and not the atman which we have seen in the article, ‘Listen to Heart – Tags are Virtual……’ We can say by learning from Krishna that birth and death have no particular significance for the learned wise.
